Sorry everyone - I forgot about the blog - here is the latest letter and some pictures - Jill's Mom
So Celine's still not home?? haha. I hope she comes soon!

We had an amazing week.  On thursday our district leader told us he had a referral from the bishop for us to teach.  It was a man that sent a text to the bishop saying: "Hi this is Øyvind and I'm thinking of being a member there.  When can I visit the congregation in Bergen? I have to order a translator because I'm deaf."  so the bishop told him he would send missionaries and we got his information and planned to go visit him on saturday.
We didn't know anything about him except his name and that he was deaf.  So we had no idea what to expect when we went to visit him.  We just sent him a text telling him we would be stopping by with some reading material.
Just before we went to visit him I called a sister in another area because she taught and baptized a deaf man a few months ago.  And what she told me was that deaf people can't read very well because they don't think in words, they think in pictures. so writing isn't an effective way to teach.  it's best to have translation all the time.  This sister and her companion even ended up learning a lot of norwegian sign language so they could teach him when he didn't have a translator.  so I realized communication might be harder than we had thought.  But we were super excited to teach him!
so we got to his apartment saturday afternoon and he came down to the door to open it.  For some reason we were expecting him to be an old man, but he was really young.  probably in his 20s.  He motioned us to follow him and we went upstairs and got to his door and then we had to show him a note saying that we couldn't come in because we didn't have another woman with us.  But we handed him a book of mormon and some pamphlets and another note we had written telling him who we are and that we wanted to teach him about the church.  He read the note and nodded excitedly and then went into his apartment and came back out with an english book of mormon.  And then he wrote to us in his phone that he had gotten the book from a couple at the airport in Florida and that he had read a little bit of it.  He said he could read english and went to a university in washington, but he was glad to have one in norwegian because that would be easier.  He seemed dissappointed that we couldn't teach him right then, but we were writing to each other in our phones and trying to schedule time for another appointment, when he got a text from his mom.  He wrote in his phone: "my mom's home and she lives on the other side."  And then motioned for us to follow him.  so we followed him to the other side of the building and he knocked on his mom's door a couple times and then opened it.  And she was standing inside the hallway on the phone not fully dressed.  She saw her son in the doorway with 2 girls and wasn't even phased, so Øyvind walked in, pushed her into her bedroom, shut the door, and then turned around and motioned us in.   And then his mom came back out with more clothes on and told us to sit down and make ourselves comfortable, so we sat down and had a conversation, part of it was just writing back and forth and part of it was with her translating.  It was awesome! His mom was complaining about how tired she was,  I couldn't understand everything they signed back in forth, but i could tell that he was getting after her for drinking too much wine.  haha, he's cool. He's so excited to learn!  And he sent us a text later that night and he was already in 1 nephi 14 and asking questions about it.  miracle.

So we've been incredibly blessed this week.  Astrid went home for christmas a couple weeks ago, but she came back to Bergen today for a meeting tonight and spent all of p-day with us.  She's doing great:)

And it's starting to feel a lot more like christmas.  There's snow on the ground and all the lights are out.  Hope you guys are having a good christmas!

p.s. hey mom, people are asking for the blog to be updated:)

June 3, 2013
Hey Family! It's been another good week! A lot happened.  Wednesday 21 new missionaries came to Oslo, they had their meeting with the President and they had some extra time so we took them out contacting in the rain.  There was sooo many missionaries! I can't believe how many people are here ready to contribute to the work. Everyone's so different, but for a year and a half we're all missionaries and it's kind of inspiring seeing them here fresh and all ready to go.  Sister Pace left me and went to Bergen and I got a new sister with me here in Oslo, Sister Pitts. I don't know how I feel about this training thing, but it's going good so far.  It's just a lot a lot of responsibility all the sudden.  I have a good companion though, she's excited and ready to go to work.  Really, really excited.  She reminds me of Lexi- no fear of talking to people at all.

We had a lot a lot of appointments this week and got lots of new investigators, but none of them could come to church, and the one person that we did get to come to church just came for relief society and then left.  She feels the spirit when we teach her, she reads the Book of Mormon and eats it up, she absolutely loves it, but we just can't get her to come to church.  I just want them to come to church so bad! And I don't know why it's so hard to come!  And they're not going to progress if they can't come to church!  So it's kind of frustrating, but we just keep looking.  Hit the streets and ask Heavenly Father to help us find the ones that are ready. the ones that are going to accept it, that are going to go to church and keep coming.  So right now I guess I'm supposed to learn to be more patient.  It'll come, I've learned a lot the past 3 months, and the more I learn the more I realize that I have so much more to learn.  And this is the best place to learn it.  I love being a missionary :)

Today we went hiking and it was gorgeous.  It reminded me a lot of home, except a little bit greener :) We got so muddy.  There were parts where the path was covered in water and we just had to jump from rock to rock.  That's norway.  Water everywhere! It was good to spend the day outside, and out of the city.  We had a fun time! Norway is the best country in the world! Except the states :) Thanks for being the best family ever.  I love you all!

Jeg er glad i dere!

Wednesday night we had an appointment cancel so we went out contacting.  We stopped a very nice woman and had a short discussion with her, but she wasn't very interested, and then suddenly this group of middle aged woman surrounds us and starts speaking super fast and excitedly and I couldn't figure out what was going on.  Then they saw our name tags and got even more excited and kept asking "Vil dere bli med!?" Then I noticed they were all wearing these cards that said "Jesuskvinner" (Jesus Women) and they finally calmed down enough for me to understand that they wanted us to come to their meeting.  I had to tell them no because we had another appointment, and so they gave me a Jesuskvinner magazine and each gave us a hug and then left to round up more people for their meeting.  We just stood their laughing for a few minutes before we could continue contacting.  Haha, it was the best.

This week has been amazing! Full of miracles. The first one was tuesday morning, we taught a man, and it was my first time since training that we were teaching in norwegian, so i was a little bit nervous because I knew that I would have to understand everything and my companion couldn't really help me out.  But I did it, and it was amazing! I understood everything, and we had a great teach with him.  Were able to answer his questions, and the spirit was there.  The gift of tongues really helped out.  And since then speaking and understanding norwegian has been soo much better, it's definitely not easy, and sometimes I have a headache by the end of the day from trying to listen so hard, especially on sundays, but its coming.  It gets better everyday.  And I love speaking norwegian.

This next one is even better.  The last half of the transfer we've been praying like crazy for a family.  We hardly ever teach families but felt like there was a familiy we needed to find.  So we prayed and tried to talk to as many families we could and nothing ever happened.  Last week we were contacting and there was one man that we had a short conversation with. His name was Jørgen.  I remember stopping him and he didn't seem super interested. He was pretty young, but I wanted to ask him if he had a family, and he did! One child and his wife is pregnant.  And you could tell how much he loved them.  But he was christian and was going to a church that he likes.  And wasn't even from Oslo- he just works here but lives in another town called Drammen.  But I told him we had missionaries there and asked if i could give them his number so they could bring his familiy a book of mormon.  And he said that would be okay.  So i got his number and called the elders in Drammen- not really thinking anything would happen.
Then last night the elders in Drammen called to thank us for the referral.  They visited Jørgen's family and taught them last night. The wife cried the whole time.  They've been looking for the gospel.  They said it was an amazing teach.  We found them.  We found the family we've been praying for.  We're not teaching them, but that's okay because we just asked to find them:) And we did.  God really does answer prayers.  And He works miracles.

It was a good week:)  Definitely not the easiest week of my mission.  I don't think it's going to get any easier... but it keeps getting better.

We had an awesome week! It's kind of been a blur so i'm having a hard time thinking of what happened that I could tell you guys about. But my favorite part of the week came in the form of a text message from a potential investigator that we met almost 3 weeks ago.  Usually when we're contacting we just carry one Mormons Bok around and don't give it out. Our goal is to get appointments and tell them we'll give them a book when we meet with them. So we just had one book when we were talking with a young norwegian man named Andre. He didn't know if God existed and said he had tried to find out but had never prayed before.  So we had a short conversation about prayer and the Holy Ghost then tried to get an appointment. He was going to Germany for 2 weeks and told us to call him June 15th when he got back. So then we were about to say bye and walk away when I decided to give him my book.  I really wanted to give it to him in the moment, but then afterwards I regretted giving it away because we didn't have another one to use and who knows if he would even read it...  But then June 15th comes around and before I could call him he sent a text saying he enjoyed talking to us and felt bad because he had told us he would be back today but just found out that he will be on holiday for another month. But then he said: When I get back can i learn more? I've been reading the mormon bible and will be reading more! haha, best text ever! no one does that. another miracle.

Jeg er glad i dere!

May  27, 2013
Well it's been a good week again.  It's kind of sad to be done with this transfer, but it's exciting to begin another transfer. I'm training Sister Pitts and all I know about her is that she is a cheerleader at BYU.  All the newbies are coming on wednesday, so i have a couple more days with Sister Pace and then she's going back to Bergen and I'm staying here in Oslo.  I'm a little nervous, but looking forward to it:)

Ya, hardanger embroidery is from norway. no i don't know what it is, but i think that's one of the regions.  ya they still do it, the bunads are made from hand and crazy expensive. but really pretty.

We did the family history gatestand on saturday, it went pretty well and we got some numbers to try and get appointments with this week.  i stopped one guy and asked him if he had done family history before, he stopped and put his hand up in my face and said, "yes, i know how to do family history, i'm going to put you in hypnosis and you're going to visit your past life and find your family."  i just laughed and said, "no it's actually just a website that we use" and then he gave me his card and said we could schedule an appointment and he would help me find my family and walked away.  haha, so that didn't really go the way it was supposed to, i got a card from a fortune teller and he didn't get a card from me.

sorry Dad, I would love to come home and help you move pipe, but not as much as I love being a missionary!:)

I love you guys! Thanks for everything! Thanks for being the best family ever!

Mar. 25, 2013
Wow. This week has been amazing! We had zone conference on Monday and it was awesome.  I was in charge of the musical number because they found out I can play the piano and put me in charge of the music stuff.  not a good idea, but I tried to get someone in my district to sing or something and everyone claimed to have no musical ability.  So they all sang, haha.  It was an awesome day and President Evans gave us some good advice about enjoying our missions and some other good stuff.  But then we all had our interviews with President and I found out I'll be training next transfer.  In May.  Way too soon.  I'm terrified.  I know it's all going to be okay, but I'm nervous just thinking about it.  I guess it gives me some extra motivation for this transfer though.  To be a better teacher, learn the language, and learn everything I can from Sister Pace.

After zone conference we were pumped up for the week, and then the next couple of days were kind of disappointing.  We had lots of appointments fall through and our potential investigators are all on vacation for the next week and a half for Påske (Easter).  It's a really big deal here, everyone is out of school and has work off for a week and a half and they leave the city.  I'm not sure what they do... but they're not here and we can't meet with them for a while. which stinks.  So Wednesday we had no appointments and had this big 3 hour block of contacting planned.  But we were super pumped and excited to find people.  We had only been out for an hour and we found this girl that was interested.  We asked when we could meet with her and she said, "I'm free today." so we went to her apartment and taught her!  And scheduled another appointment. She's Filipino, but she's lived here for a long time.  We've taught people from everywhere, Ghana, Nigeria, Portugal, Peru, Sweden, Poland, India, Iraq, and Iran. everywhere.  Her name's Percy, and she was our first miracle this week.  Our next one was sunday.  The last day of the week and we needed one more new investigator to meet the mission goal.  We were doing everything we could do to get that last one, calling old numbers on our phone, and then we went out contacting before dinner.  But then Sister Pace decided to text the man she met on the trykk on the way to church that morning and see if he could meet today.  He said he could come after work. He came, we had an awesome teach, and scheduled another appointment.  We got our last investigator the very end of the day, the last day of the week.  Miracle.  So what I learned this week is that the church is true, and miracles happen! and a lot of other good stuff.  I'm learning new stuff everyday.  I love it.  Being a missionary is the best.

April 1, 2013
Happy Easter! thats awesome that everyone was home.  I had to give a talk in church easter sunday.  That was a little scary, but i did it! just a short 5 minute one.  But I had to write everything down because I knew i would blank out and not be able to say anything in norwegian haha.  We speak norwegian most of the time, but some people don't speak it so then we just speak english.  And sometimes when I talk to people in norwegian they can tell that i'm american so then they start speaking english, and I have to tell them no, i've got to speak norwegian!  Haha, ya i really am the only one that plays the piano.  Even in the ward, there's one woman who plays the organ and the piano for everything.  And i asked her on sunday if she could play for the baptism meeting on saturday, but she can't, and she's sick of being the only one that can play, so i'm probably playing for that too because there really isn't anyone else.  haha.  good thing you made me learn it. thanks mom:)

funny story of the week: me and Sister Pace have a problem, we fall down every day.  every day.  There's still lots of ice on the sidewalks, so that's usually the cause of it.  but the other day we were running home because we were going to be late.  We were running across an intersection and all the sudden Sister Pace completely belly flops in the middle of the street.  all the way down.  there wasn't any ice, she just tripped, and ate it.  so hard.  haha.  And since then we've been falling daily.  Stairs have been hard for me, I'm just too clumsy.  But no one has given me a hard time for being a blonde!  People are just nicer here, no hating on blondes.

We have 2 baptisms on saturday.  Carla and Maria del Pilar, Carla is from Portugal and doesn't speak norwegian so we've been teaching her in english.  They started teaching her before i got here, but teaching her has been amazing.  She just wants to do everything right and has changed her life so much.  She's had a hard time trying to find a better job so that she can bring her son to norway this summer, and she just got out of a bad divorce, and life's been hard for her but she's so much happier now.  Maria del Pilar is from Peru and has been living here for a couple months with her cousin who is a member.  We taught her for the first time my first day here.  She only speaks spanish, so we speak norwegian and her cousin translates to spanish for her.    2 languages that I can't understand! haha, that's how i felt the first day.  but Sister Pace told me to give her the baptismal commitment, so i tried to say it and stumbled through it and she didn't understand and i tried to get through it again and somehow finally got the question across and Maria just smiled and said "Si."  She's the coolest woman.  She's had an incredibly hard life and she's been searching for the gospel for so long.  And she knew this was it the very first teach.  Her life is so different than it was just a couple months ago and it's amazing to see how happy she is.  The gospel is true, and when you figure that out it can change your life.  I knew it was true before i came out here, but it's strengthened my testimony so much.  Being a missionary is the best:)

P.S. The pictures are from last p-day when we went to Frogner park.  It's one of the most famous places in Oslo.  It's a park with lots of statues, and they're not very modest...  So we just hurried and walked through it to say we'd been there and didn't look at them too much haha.  But it was pretty cool. We wanted a picture of the whole district and it didn't work out too well.

April 8, 2013
This has been the best week.  So much good stuff.  Tuesday we went to zone leadership training, its usally just the zone leaders and the APs so as sisters it was kind of weird to go but President wanted someone to represent the sisters because we have so many coming in next transfer.  I'm really glad we got to go though. I learned a lot and it was cool to what the leaders in the mission are doing.  They work really hard to improve the mission, to find any way we can do the work better.  A huge problem we have here is that people will get baptized and then go inactive within a few months and we focused a lot on that.  The ward here in Oslo has hundreds of inactive members that they have to worry about and we don't want to give them any more. But it was a really good meeting, I didn't say much, I was the youngest and the most inexperienced person there so i didn't feel like i had much to contribute.  but I learned a ton.  We have some good missionaries here.

Then we had our 2 baptisms on saturday! It was the most incredible meeting.  Both our baptisms speak spanish so we wanted it to be special for them.  All the spanish members came, but many of the norwegians too so we had a translator from spanish to norwegian.  so i didn't understand hardly any of what was said, but the spirit there was incredible and Maria and Carla were so happy.  We found out the hour before the meeting started that we were doing the musical number.  Our district had to sing How Great Thou Art in spanish, most of us took it in high school, but after learning norwegian it is impossible to pronounce spanish words. haha, I know it sounded awful but at the same time it was great.  Bishop Muren got up at the end of the meeting to give his closing remarks.  And he started speaking in spanish.  He can't speak it, but he had translated his talk and it was the sweetest thing in the world the way he welcomed them into the ward.

General Conference was this weekend too! I have never enjoyed conference as much as I did this time, and I got so much out of it.  President Evans talked to me a lot about training on monday so that was what was on my mind all during conference and so many of the talks addressed all my worries exactly. Especially  Sister Dalton and Elder Holland.  He said, "don't hyperventilate" which is exactly what President Evans said to me haha, i guess i needed to hear it twice.  But it was sooo good. The best weekend, and I'm looking forward to another great week!

Kay, I'll start with the funny story of the week:  I sat by an older woman that was sitting alone in relief society.  We talked a little before the meeting started, I told her I was from Idaho and she was so excited because she has family there.  (So many people that I talked to this week had connections to Idaho, which is weird, because usually people have never heard of it before).  So anyways, we talked for a little bit and then the lesson started.  Normally I don't really participate in the lesson because I'm not even sure what it's about.  I can understand most of the words people say, but it's hard to connect everything and follow what the point of the lesson is.  But the teacher asked for a volunteer to read a paragraph from the book.  The old woman next to me quickly raised her hand and then pointed to me and handed me her book while whispering, "stå opp!"  So I stood up and read the paragraph, thankfully I wasn't asked to share my thoughts after, I just hurried and sat down and hoped that she wouldn't force me to do anything else. well... she did.  we had to split up and discuss how we could help other woman in the relief society or something like that.  so we talked about it and then the teacher asked for what we came up with.  So this woman started elbowing me again, "dele, dele" "share our answers!" and then she raised her hand and pointed to me again.  So I said "vi kan besøke dem!" (we can visit them), so original.  But then she kept elbowing me, "say the other one too!" so i hurried and added, "and we need to find out what they need." haha.  Afterwards my companion told me she was so proud that I participated in relief society and then I told her what really happened, i was forced. haha

April 15, 2013
It was another good week! they're all so good:)  We had dinner with a woman in the ward.  We took Unnur, an investigator from the Elders.  She's getting baptized this weekend.  Her parents, her boyfriend, and almost everyone she knows is completely against everything and it's been difficult, so we wanted her to meet this woman because her story is amazing and we wanted her to share it with Unnur. She was an exchange student in Jerome in high school and she found out about the church there. (so she loves Idaho!)  When she came back to Norway she eventually contacted the missionaries.  She kept seeing them on the street but was nervous to talk to them, then finally she decided if I see them one more time i'll talk to them. Then she saw them in a cafe and ran in and told them that she needed to talk to them. (thats my dream, to have someone run up to me and ask to be taught) wow.  So she joined the church, married a return missionary, and had a son.  And then her husband left her for another woman.  But she decided that she had to stay in the church.  And she's so strong.  And Unnur loved it, she was so inspired.

Also, we got a baptismal date this week from Filipe!  He's a referral from Carla- the one that just got baptized.  He's really cool and we're excited for him.  Him and Carla have been dating so our vision is that they're gonna go to the temple and this is gonna be an eternal family right here. :)  So it's been another amazing week!

April 22, 2013
It was a good week again. Unnur got baptized saturday and it was a great meeting.  We've been teaching two guys that are 7th day adventists.  He was one of the first people i contacted my first week in Oslo and we've been meeting with him and his friend for a while.  They're both open to finding more truth and they've been studying the Book of Mormon really hard.  The problem is that they're studying it against the Bible to make sure it doesn't contradict and we're having a hard time making them understand that if they want to find out that it's true they've got to pray about it.  So they've been reading the Book of Mormon like crazy but they're not going to find out if it's true.  A couple weeks ago we had Unnur on a teach with them and they found out she was getting baptized and wanted to come.  So one came and brought some friends and it was great.  But he brought Unnur a present, a book from their prophet- Ellen White.  The elders that teach Unnur are worried that they're going to try to convert her.  So it's kind of a funny situation.  But it's frustrating because we really don't know how we can teach them if they don't get a testimony about the Book of Mormon.  They can't accept anything we teach if they don't have that.  So it's hard to know what to do.  They really are searching for more truth, and it's right here.  They would see it if they could just soften their hearts.

Also, we met with Filipe this week and he told us he doesn't want to get baptized and he doesn't want to meet anymore.  He believes the Book of Mormon and he feels like he needs to get baptized eventually but he wants to be more prepared.  The problem is that he hadn't prayed about the Book of Mormon yet and we don't know what he's waiting for. I don't think he knows either.  But we had a really good teach with him.  We read about Alma the Younger, talked about baptism and commited him to pray about the Book of Mormon that night.  It's was a really good teach, the spirit was strong and there was a lot of silence, just letting him think about things.  And before he left he said he really wants to keep meeting, but he's still not ready to be baptized and he's not going to come to church. So we're kind of at a stand still right now.

We visited an inactive family this week.  She's a single mom with 3 kids and the oldest is 8 and could be baptized.  So we taught the kids about the stripling warriors and being obedient to their mom.  We showed them pictures and they absolutely loved it.  They wanted more stories and didn't want us to leave.  It was so fun to teach little kids.  We told them about primary and got them super excited about it, and then they didn't come.  But we're going to keep visiting them and get them active again!

So moral of the story its: you just got to have a testimony of the Book of Mormon to be truly converted.  It was kind of a hard week considering our investigators that aren't progressing, but we got lots of new investigators and have return appointments with some of them this week.  So things are looking up.  It's going to be a good week!

Tuesday we had some time to go out contacting and we split up.  When we try to stop people most of them just say "sorry, no time" or "ikke interesert" but I stopped one man and he had time to talk, we started talking about Christ and he told me an interesting theory that he had discovered.  He said the only way Christ could've had so much self control and been so calm when the soldiers took him was because... wait for it... Christ and his apostles were known to go out in the wilderness to fast and do warrior yoga. Ah, it was so hard to keep a straight face, I laughed a little (I couldn't hold it all in) and then asked, "where did that come from?"  Then preceded to explain how Christ was perfect, but then somehow the conversation topic turned into reincarnation.  i could understand most of what he was saying, but he kept saying "kat" so i had to ask what it meant and he meowwed.  he really did.  So from what I understood he wants to come back to this life as a cat.  He was really nice, just really confused.  poor guy.

We met with Filipe again last week.  He's doing really good, he knows the book of mormon is ture, just still not wanting to get baptized yet.  He said I will be baptized I just want to wait 3 or 6 months, don't you guys think thats okay?  And we didn't really think that was okay, so I pulled out Alma 7:15 on him and said, "I don't know about you, but I think that's pretty specific."  We commited him to pray about it and we're meeting with him again tomorrow, so we'll see.

Things are going good. I love being a missionary! And Norway is the best place to be a missionary. I love it here:)

Haha, sounds like you had a fun day friday.  It's been kind of nice not having a car.  We just take public transportation everywhere, but I had to go get my driver's license this morning.  They took away my american one and i'll get my norwegian one soon.

It's been a little warmer this week and really sunny.  So everyone's outisde in their shorts, and we're still wearing layers and jackets.  Haha, I guess it's warm, but i'm still freezing.  I'm waiting for summer, but i'm thinking maybe this is as warm as it gets. of-da

It's been a good week, but kind of interesting.  Sister Pace and I both got proposed to by a man in the ward.  He couldn't choose between us so he asked both of us.  But he did it over text so it was pretty easy to say no.

We also had another zone leader meeting, except now it's called missionary leader council because Sister Pace and another sister are sister training leaders.  Which means they have to fly all over norway and go on splits with the other sisters, just like the zone leaders do with the elders. So I was just there because my compaion had to be there. We split up in companionships to do a practical on the first vision part of the first teach.  But there was three of us sisters so President Evans decided I got to do it with him.  That was a little intimidating, but i've been out of my comfort zone so much the past 2 months, and you just do it. It was pretty cool to do a practical with him, got some one on one time and some great advice.

It's been a little slower the past couple weeks because we only have one solid progressing investigator and things are going super slow with her.  But she's awesome, and she always comes to church.  She has a 3 year old boy and I sat by them on sunday and we colored and played games so his mom could listen.  it was pretty fun:)  little kids are the best.

Sister Pace and I had a really powerful experience on sunday.  I'll have to tell you about it next year, but what I realized after all of it is that the Holy Ghost is real, and in D&C 84:88 the Lord says he'll be on our right, on our left, in our hearts, and His angels will be round about us, to bear us up.  That's real, and I like to think my brother is one of those angels.  I'm pretty sure he's watching out for me:)  I love you guys, I have the best family in the world! Happy Mother's day mom!

I finally made it to Norway!! And I am so excited to be here! President and Sister Evans met us at the airport tuesday night and took us to their home and fed us delicious food. I had my interview with President Evans and he asked me about Preston and then had to tell me that he loves Napoleon Dynamite! haha, he's a funny guy, but is also super inspiring and motivating. We all stayed in Oslo with them tuesday and wednesday night before they sent us out to our areas. It was a long 2 days because I wanted to get started so badly, but it was really good, we had some meetings and practiced contacting and all that good stuff.
The first two things I loved about Norway is the heated bathroom floors! (aweeesoome!) and the chocolate! (soo goood!). I'll have to send you some because you just can't understand it until you try it. Also, it's beautiful here! I'm in Oslo, so this is all I've seen, but it's such a pretty place. I finally met my companion Sister Pace on thursday and she's AMAZING! We got right to work and had 3 appointments and then did some street contacting- that was a little nerve-wracking, but so cool to finally do it in real life after practicing forever. I would just say "Hi, we're missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Have you heard of the church? Have you heard of Mormons?" And then they would start talking and I would have no idea what they were saying and Sister Pace would take over while I just tried to understand what they were talking about. But everyday she pushes me to add a little more when we contact and in our lessons, and I can understand and say more every time. Yesterday we were walking to the bus stop to go to church and Sister Pace said, "Kay we're splitting up, you have to sit by someone and you have to talk to them." I was thinking there is no way, and I told her that, but she said I had to, so I sucked it up and said I would try. I sat across from a girl my age-ish and told her I was new to norway and trying to learn norwegian and asked her how to say scarf. I told her I liked hers and after we talked for a minute she asked why I was in norway. So then of course I told her I was a missionary and she said she would meet with us and gave me her number! Haha it was pretty cool! But kind of terrifying!
We had 2 baptisms on saturday and it was the coolest way to start off my mission. And we have more on the way! Missionary work is amazing and I love finally being a part of it. It's finally for reals! real people! real baptisms! It's amazing!
Jeg er glad i dere!!

Thanks for the pictures!! William is so cute! I'm excited to meet him in a year and a half! This week has been great, we have some really cool investigators and 2 that we're preparing for baptism April 6!
Last Monday we had some time to go contacting at the end of the day. We were on our way back to our apartment with a few more minutes so we decided to talk to one more person. The guy we stopped was
very religious and told us we were too young to be preaching the gospel, and that women have no authority to be teaching. We do street contacting a lot and sometimes crazy things happen. The other day
one of our appointments cancelled so we decided to go contacting for an hour. It was really cold and had just started snowing and nobody wanted to listen to us. Finally a man stopped and seemed interested,
he was like, "I know you, i talked to you before." We were like, " ya you probably talked to some other missionaries." but he said, " no, it was you guys." we'd never seen him before, but he seemed interested so we
tried to ask if we could exchange numbers and schedule an appointment, but then he just started getting really close to Sister Pace and suddenly his hand was in her face and it looked like he was going to grab
her nose. Just before he could grab it she smacked his hand out of her face with her Mormons Bok. She said, "have a good day" and we both turned around and walked the other way really fast. And we couldn't
stop laughing for at least 5 minutes.
Crazy stuff happens, we meet people that don't want to hear anything, and people that don't like us, but it seems that whenever things start going bad it means something great is going to happen.
Saturday we had a teach with a couple that they taught twice before I came, but they weren't really accepting anything. They taught the plan of salvation last time and the woman didn't like it because
she didn't want her body back. Even though it's going to be perfect! So we planned to teach them the next lesson about the Gospel of Christ and it was really hard to teach them. They just couldn't accept any of it and argued with
everything we tried to teach. So we weren't really getting anywhere, which was kind of frustrating, and the woman was sitting across from me smoking the whole time. And blew all the smoke right in my face.
We really wanted to leave but they wouldn't stop talking, we finally told them that we needed to leave for our next appointment and she was so sad. She said it's so nice when we come and she loves talking to us.
Not true. She just likes disagreeing with us. We finally left and I was so mad that we had wasted our time there, and told Sister Pace how mad I was and she just laughed at me the whole time! and then said,
"Get used to it." haha. It's so sad though when people just refuse to accept it. We have the truth and we just want to share it. But after that lesson we met a couple people and got their numbers and then had
some awesome teaches. We had one with a woman who got dragged to the catholic church by her parents when she was little and didn't like it, and has never believed in God since. But she came to church on
Sunday with her little boy and they loved it. We had a lot of potential investigators come to church this sunday and we're really excited to teach them more. It seems like so many people don't want religion, but then
we meet people that are so ready and it's cool to see them learning it and accepting the gospel. I love being a missionary!

Dear Familie,
Yes! I only have 1 and 1/2 weeks left and i can't wait to go! I hope my visa comes though... the danish district in our branch left on monday but one of the sisters didn't get her visa so she has to stay here an extra week and is getting reassigned somewhere in the states until her visa comes. So i'm really hoping that doesn't happen to me, or anyone in our district. The MTC is amazing but I want to be in Norway so bad!
Yesterday we got to be hosts for all the new sisters. We just had to meet them as they were coming in, then we helped them take their luggage to residence, go get their books, and took them to their classroom. The first girl I hosted was going to japan, and she doesn't know any japanese yet. when I took her into her classroom her teacher was already there- and he started speaking japanese at her and making all kinds of unintelligible noises. I felt so bad to leave her there. It was so much fun being a host though, we got out of class for a few hours and it was fun to talk to the new girls coming in. One of the girls I hosted was crying when I met her and i didn't know what to do, so i just talked to her like normal and soon she was fine. I forgot how emotional of a day it was, it wasn't sad for me, just super exciting, but still pretty emotional, and the MTC is weird at first.
This week was pretty exciting for our investigators! We committed both of them to go to church and they went! It was really cool to see them commit because both of them have been moving kind of slow and have had a lot of questions. It can be hard to teach people that have had nothing to do with religion before, most of our investigators have been atheist or agnostic and sometimes they don't even understand why they need religion in their life, but they do need it! I love teaching our investigators so much! It has strengthened my own testimony a million times. I love being a missionary!

Dear Familie!
Happy Valentines Day! For me it's more like happy single awareness day, which is Awesome!!
Wow it sounds like you all have been pretty sick. It hasn't been too bad here, a couple of my roommates have been sick, but no one has had the flu. I hope you all get better soon.
That's impressive that you can understand that much spanish mom. You should go on a mission and they'd send you to South America or Spain or some cool place like that. Kim is here now and I see her all the time. She's roommates with the Swedish sisters in my branch. Also Greg is her teacher, isn't that crazy? also really cool.
We started teaching another investigator this week, and we had TRC for the first time. We were a little nervous because with TRC we're teaching people that are already members and they're not pretending to be an investigator, they're just being themselves and we have to teach them. So the first guy we taught was a return missionary that served in norway, but when he started talking it did not sound like norwegian. somehow we caught the gist of it and we had a really good teach with him. we found out after that he really wasn't speaking the same language, he was speaking nynorsk, and we learn bokmal. so they're kind of the same, but a lot different. We had to teach two people, and the next one was so funny. She was an older lady who served her mission in norway about 18 years ago and had forgotten most of it, so she was closer to our level, but her pronunciation was horrible. So we were trying to teach her a lesson, but she was so excited to be talking to sister missionaries and just wanted to know all about us, where we were from, about our families, everything. So my companion shows her a picture of her family and says "Jeg vet at min familie er fra Gud". (I know that my family is from God) and the lady gets this super excited and surprised look on her face and says "Nei!!!!" (nooo!) and we both just looked at her with confusion for a minute. And my companion repeated "fra Gud? God?" And she said " ohhh i thought you said they were from a different country." haha it boosted our self confidence a lot that we knew more norwegian than she did. She was the sweetest lady though, and so excited for us.
Everythings going really good, I still love the MTC, but I can't wait to get to Norway! I'm halfway done! Hey mom have you been putting stuff on the blog? I'm excited to get some pictures and some socks! Thanks so much!

Hei Venner!

Only 4 more days until I report to the MTC!!  I will be in Provo for 6 weeks and then I will be going to Norway to teach people about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  I am incredibly excited for this opportunity and so grateful that I get to teach the people of Norway about the Gospel.  These next 18 months are going to be amazing!  I've made this blog so my mom can post my letters and pictures for all of you that want to read about my mission.  Thanks so much to all of my family and friends for helping me prepare for my mission and I will see you in a year and a half!
